HOW IT WORKS

A COMPLETE GUIDE TO PLANNING YOUR SAILING TOUR

STEP 1. CHOOSE THE RIGHT TYPE OF TRIP

Decide what kind of trip suits you best. Couples and solo travelers often enjoy shared charters, while larger groups of friends or families may prefer private charters for a more exclusive experience.

STEP 2. EXPLORE BOAT OPTIONS

Browse the Boats & Prices page to compare price ranges, sizes, and amenities. You can also contact us via WhatsApp or email with any questions — we're happy to help.

STEP 3. FILL OUT THE CHARTER INQUIRY FORM

Let us know your preferred travel dates, group size, and budget. We'll get to work finding the best options for your dream sailing vacation.

STEP 4. REVIEW AVAILABLE BOATS

We’ll email you details and pricing for available boats. After reviewing, feel free to ask any questions about the boats, crew, amenities, or inclusions — via email or WhatsApp. You can also request additional options.

STEP 5. RESERVE YOUR BOAT

Once you have decided on the boat, we will send you a payment link for 20% deposit (will be deducted form the total) payable with any major credit card, bank card, Google pay. Or may request a bank transfer link if you prefer.

STEP 6. BOOKING CONFIRMATION

After we receive your deposit, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all trip details, including transportation options and logistics.

STEP 7. ARRANGE TRANSPORTATION

We’ll coordinate your round-trip transport from Panama City to your sailboat in San Blas and back to the city after your final night onboard.

STEP 8. PAY THE BALANCE

The preferred method of payment for the remaining balance is cash onboard. However, each captain also offers an alternative method for payment one week before your trip. We’ll contact you in advance to finalize everything and make sure all details are covered.

STEP 9. GET READY TO SAIL

As your departure date approaches, we'll confirm final logistics, answer any last-minute questions, and make sure everything is in place for an unforgettable journey.

STEP 10. JOIN THE ADVENTURE

Welcome aboard! Your San Blas sailing experience begins — island-hopping, snorkeling, relaxing on white-sand beaches, and connecting with the Guna Yala culture. Let the wind carry you through paradise — your dream vacation has arrived.

When choosing a charter, you’ll pick between a private or shared experience.

Private charters offer the entire boat to you and your group — ideal for families, special occasions, or those wanting flexibility, privacy, and a custom itinerary. They’re more expensive but give you full control. Shared charters, on the other hand, are budget-friendly and social, where you join others on the same trip — great for solo travelers, couples, where you will have a private cabin in a multi cabin boat.

Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred to a future booking. If the reserved boat is unable to complete the charter, we will make every effort to provide a comparable or better replacement. If no suitable alternative is available, we will issue a full refund of your deposit. In cases of delays or cancellations caused by civil unrest, government actions, or acts of God, deposits remain non-refundable but can be applied to a future booking.

We Sail San Blas is a booking agency working with independently owned boats. Captains have full authority once onboard and may adjust plans or refuse passage to ensure safety and comfort.

We are not liable for unexpected events such as weather, government actions, civil unrest, or natural disruptions. While we do our best to avoid or adapt to such situations, changes may occur.

We, along with the crew and boat owners, are not responsible for loss, damage to personal items, or injury. All guests should have travel insurance.

Adventure travel involves risk. By booking, you accept these risks and release We Sail San Blas from liability for accidents, injuries, or losses during your trip

There are two options:

  1. CAR + SPEEDBOAT costs $30 for the car, $30 for the speedboat, $60 per person one way, $120 per person round trip. The pick up form the hotels is between 5 and 6 a.m. The car ride is 2,5 to 3 hours, and the speed boat ride can take from 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on boat’s location, number of passengers, and the direction of the current.
  2. PRIVATE PLANES  that can accommodate 3 to 9 passenger can also be arranged. Ask for a quote.

Preferred payment method is cash on board. There are no banks or ATMs in San Blas, and captains must cover all trip expenses in cash. For this reason, they truly appreciate guests bringing cash on board — even partial payment helps and is always welcomed.

If bringing cash isn’t possible, the captains can also accept payments via WisePayPal (with a small fee), bank transfer, or credit card pay  links. Options vary by captain

If you’re traveling with a lot of luggage, we recommend packing a smaller bag with just the essentials for your charter and leaving the rest at your hotel or hostel in Panama City. The jeeps that take you to the coast have strict weight limits due to the rough terrain, so packing light is important. In your small bag, we suggest including light clothing, a raincoat or jacket, swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, a towel, insect repellent, seasickness medication, a flashlight, a camera with charger, and a book, music, or small games for downtime. Feel free to contact us if you have any concerns about what to bring!
